Q1) When did the Dust Bowl of 1934 end?

It ended in Spring of 1934.

Q2)”their lives forever changed by the disaster of the Dust Bowl”. How were the residents’ lives affected by the Dust Bowl?

They had to move away and live in another place.

Q3) Apart from strong winds, what was the other cause of the disaster?

Farmers uprooted the buffalo grass which was important to hold the soil on the ground.

Q4) Why did the farmers plant more wheat during the period of 1914 – 1918?

The demand for wheat increased due to World War 1.

Q5) State two reasons why the Dust Bowl stopped recurring?

The U.S government took steps to remedy the problem by ensuring soil conservation became an important focus of federal agencies. The return of the rain also ensured the Dust Bowl from recurring.

~ The trip to the forested area was a harrowing experience for Jane.

- a unit of measurement for land
~ Singapore is approximately 162 348 acres.

5) remedy
- medicine or treatment for a disease or illness
~ John dragged himself to the doctor to get a remedy for his runny nose.

6) federal
- relating to a system of government in which several states form a unity but remain independent in internal affairs
~ The federal states voted against smoking in hospitals.
